LIVERMORE FALLS — Two major changes have occurred at the Treat Memorial Library in the last month. The first is the promotion of Myra Rosenbaum to the position of library director in March.

Rosenbaum had been serving as assistant director since she was hired in 2004. When then-Director Elaine Smith left suddenly for reasons of ill health in the fall of 2013, Rosenbaum was appointed acting library director.

In March she was offered the position of director in the aftermath of losing Smith to cancer.

In her recommendation President Pat Allen stated, “Myra has done such a good job taking on the additional duties with no time to prepare, we can’t go wrong in promoting her.”

Before coming to Treat Memorial Library, Rosenbaum worked for nine years at the Charles M. Bailey Public Library in Winthrop, where she was the adult services supervisor for four years and children’s associate/program manager for five years.

The second change is the hiring of an assistant director. Connie Sefcik comes to the library with many years of experience in various library operations.

She was director at the Zadoc Long Free Library in Buckfield in 2009- 2010, assistant and in charge of youth services programming in Buckfield January 2006-March 2009 and interned at the Paris Public Library January 2004-May 2004.

She is skilled in computer technology, has written three successful grants, has developed children’s and adult programming to increase patronage and circulation and is familiar with cataloguing and the day-to-day running of a library.

In recommending her, Allen said, “She is just what we are looking for. She has done it all.”

Sefcik said she is looking forward to meeting the people of Livermore Falls and working with the youth during the summer reading program. She is also eager to try some new ideas she has been developing.
