1934 – 2014

WEST PARIS — Harold P. “Jr.” Wasson, 79, of Middle Avenue, Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris, following a brief illness.

He was born in Fort Fairfield on Dec. 17, 1934, a son of Harold P. and Dorothy C. (Sanderson) Wasson. Harold attended schools in Limestone.

He began his working career at Lloyd’s Lumber Co., then bottled milk for Ferland’s Dairy and was then employed for 40 years with Puiia Lumber Co. Harold was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, playing softball, visits to McDonald’s and Dick’s Restaurant and watching his favorite New England teams on TV.

Harold is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene (Staires) Wasson, of Mexico; four children, Victor Eastman and wife, Cathy, of Arizona, Christina Williamson of Auburn, Michele White of Ocala, Fla., and Elizabeth Wasson of Mexico; two sisters, Barbara VanKirk of Caribou and Betty Kelley and husband, William, of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Mary Wasson, of Fort Fairfield; 10 grandchildren, Victor Jr., Ryan, Eric, Kevin, Hunter, Forrest, Robyn, Alicia, Heather and Josh; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Ronald, Garey and Robert.

The family would like to offer a special thank-you to his nephew, Carey, for being there every day through the last of his journey.
