AUBURN — Corporate and Community Services at Central Maine Community College will offer Microsoft Security Fundamentals from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 20 to June 12.

The 32-hour Microsoft IT Academy training course, for which financial assistance is available, prepares for the Microsoft Technology Associate Exam 98-367.

Participants build an understanding of the following topics: Security layers; authentication, authorization and accounting; security policies; operating system security; network security; and security software.

The MTA Exam validates fundamental knowledge needed to build a career using Microsoft technologies. The certification provides an appropriate entry point in technology careers and assumes some hands-on experience or training but does not assume on-the-job experience. There are no prerequisites for the course.

The cost is $899 and scholarships and payment plan options are available. The fee covers course materials, six-month access to a practice exam ($80) and one test voucher for the Microsoft Security Fundamentals certification exam.

The course will be offered again from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 28 through Sept. 23.

Registration is open, however space is limited. For more information, contact Emily Butterfield at ebutterfield@cmcc.edu. Deadline for registration is Tuesday, May 13.

This workforce solution was funded in part by a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration.
