1924 – 2014

AUBURN — Robert R. Hamel, 90, of Clover Manor died Friday, May 9, where he resided for the past 10 years.

He was born in Somersworth, N.H. on March 20, 1924, a son of the late Joseph and Regina Collette Hamel. He graduated from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1943 and was married to the former Cecile E. Comeau on April 2, 1945. She died Jan. 28, 1999.

Mr. Hamel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church, and had been a bookkeeper at LeBlanc’s Clothing Store for 26 years, Enterprise Foundry for 10 years and worked in the operating room at St. Mary’s Hospital prior to his retirement.

Bob enjoyed the ocean, loved to shop and playing card games.

Our dad will be remembered for the love of his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Pauline Roux of Saco and Denise Arsenault and husband, Roger, of Clinton, Mass.; three sons, Richard A. Hamel of Auburn, Normand R. and wife, Jackie Hamel, of Lewiston, and Paul D. and wife, Tracy Hamel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.

He was also predeceased by a grandson, two sisters and four brothers.
