WASHINGTON — Maine communities have been awarded nearly $2.2 million for local airport improvements.
U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Friday the Federal Aviation Administration is funding infrastructure upgrades at nine airports.
Recipients of the funds include Bangor International Airport, Knox County Regional Airport, Princeton Municipal Airport and Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport as well as airports in Belfast, Bethel, Norridgewock, Fryeburg and Sanford.
The airports are using funds for repairs to access roads, runways, equipment storage buildings and for runway lights.
