For the first time in many years, there will be tennis facilities available to the general public in Auburn. thanks to the most recent project of the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department. The APRD, according to Superintendent Harry E. Reynolds, has been working at the Auburn-Lewiston Airport the past two weeks reclaiming facilities that have been unused for nearly 20 years. The tennis courts, two double courts, were built by the federal government many years ago when the airport was a military installation. The courts have not been used since about 1945. According to Reynolds. the unused courts were “discovered” recently by former Auburn Mayor Paul F. Brogan, now chairman of the Recreation Advisory Board, during a recent visit to the Little League baseball park, also at the airport.
