He might be merely keeping the driver’s seat warm, but Oxford’s Bill Penfold is on a hot streak at Wiscasset Speedway.

Penfold posted his second 30-lap Pro Stock victory in three starts this season on a foggy Saturday night at the coastal oval.

The long-time NASCAR Busch North and Pro All Stars Series competitor has been keeping a low profile on the track in recent seasons, but he has been a regular competitor since Kingfield couple Richard and Vanessa Jordan bought Wiscasset at auction and reopened it in 2013.

His primary goal is to shake down the car for son Mike, whose career has been interrupted by his military service.

“This car has never failed me yet,” Penfold said in a news release. “It is an older car, but I made some changes. I am getting it ready for my son. He is serving in Afghanistan. I sent him some pictures, and he can’t wait to come home and race this car.”

Maggie Ferland of Auburn finished fourth in the Pro Stock feature.

In other Wiscasset action, Jeff Prindall of Lisbon upper his record to 3-for-3 on the young campaign in the New England 4-Cylinder Pro Stock class. Craig Dunn of Strong was sixth and Nathan McWilliams of Lewiston seventh.

A host of local drivers chased Outlaw Mini winner Shawn Kimball across the line. Ryan Glover of Mexico was second, Justin Larsen of Peru third, Jimmy Childs of Leeds fourth and Matt Moore of Mechanic Falls seventh.

Mike St. Germain of Auburn topped a 50-lap Enduro. St. Germain also won $7,000 for an Enduro triumph at Oxford Plains in April.

Adam Chadbourne prevailed in the Wiscasset’s NAPA Super Street feature.

Wiscasset will revive its marquee race, the Coastal 200, next Sunday at 2 p.m. after an absence of many years. The late model main event will pay a purse of $18,500, including $3,000 and lap-leader bonuses to the winner.

Parent wins milestone ACT event

The 250th race in American-Canadian Tour history produced one of the closest finishes on record Saturday night.

Rhode Island’s Ray Parent and Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette swapped the lead four times over the final five laps before Parent won the Airborne 100 in Plattsburgh, N.Y., by four-hundredths of a second. It was Parent’s first career win in a points-paying race. He also is a past winner of the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Joey Polewarczylk Jr. was third. Maine drivers — Travis Stearns of Auburn, Jeff White of Winthrop and Rowland Robinson Jr. of Steuben — finished seventh through ninth.

Larry Gelinas of Buxton (18th) and Ben Ashline of Pittston (19th) also competed.

Shaw wins in Canada

D.J. Shaw won his second consecutive Pro All Stars Series North Division start and third overall PASS checkered flag of the year Sunday, winning the Frameco 150 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec.

Shaw won a week ago at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., and earlier this spring in Hickory N.C. He also won one of the three 2013 events at the same Canadian track.

Past series champions Johnny Clark of Farmingdale and Mike Rowe of Turner were second and third, respectively.

Rain backs up OPS schedule

Rain claimed the race program at OPS for the second consecutive week Friday night.

Speedway officials will take advantage of the upcoming holiday weekend to give drivers and fans a double whammy. Regular weekly racing is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, while the “Five Buck Friday” fan appreciation promotion has been rescheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at 1:30 p.m.

Thirty-one Pro Late Model cars were in the garage area for Friday’s event before the weather intervened.
