JAY — Spruce Mountain High School events for the week of May 17 to 23 have been announced.

Students in Susan St. Pierre’s and Michael Henry’s United States history classes are helping the American Legion place flags on veterans’ grave sites in cemeteries in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls. St. Pierre’s class performed the service on May 15 and Henry’s class will go on Tuesday, May 20.

The Junior Class hosted the prom on Saturday, May 17, in the cafeteria. The theme was “Shimmering Seas.” Diane Maurais was the adviser in charge.

Band Director Darrell Roundy has announced there will be a spring band and jazz band concert for high school and Livermore and Jay Elementary students at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Spruce Mountain Middle School. Everyone is welcome.

The vocal ensemble group in Dianne Fenalson’s classes will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, on the Spruce Mountain High School stage.

Barbara Jewett’s and Diane Maurais’ classes will volunteer their time at the food bank at the Livermore Falls Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 21.

Students in the junior class are invited to attend a College Fair at the University of Maine at Augusta from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22. Students may pick up a permission forms in the guidance office.

On Thursday, May 22 a group of students and faculty members will travel to New York City by charter bus. They will tour the city, eat at New York style delis, visit Time Square and attend the Broadway play, “Matilda.” Students have had three meetings to discuss and plan the trip.

Students in Dianne Fenalson’s Rock of Ages Class will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Spruce Mountain High School. All are welcome.

Thursday, May 22: Varsity Girls Tennis Home vs Winthrop, 4 p.m.; Varsity Boys Tennis at Winthrop, 4 p.m.; JV Baseball Home vs. St. Dom’s, 4:30 p.m.’ JV Softball Home vs Mtn. Valley, 4:30 p.m.
