1929 – 2014
LITCHFIELD — Annie (Danforth) Getchell, 85, of Litchfield, passed away at home on Monday, May 19.
She was born in Litchfield on Feb. 20, 1929, the third daughter of Chester and Cecelia (Wentzel) Danforth.
Annie loved dancing and playing cards (Skip-Bo and 63) with family and friends. She also loved watching the Red Sox play ball.
She drove the school bus for the town of Litchfield for 14 years. She was also the co-owner of Getchell’s Variety in Sabattus.
Annie is survived by her six children, Linda Pierce, Gaylen and Barbara Getchell, Duane Getchell, Brenda Davis, Kendon Getchell and his companion, Brenda Gayton, and Rodney and Gigi Getchell; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Porter.
She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Cecelia; three sisters, Louise Vannah, Rowena Ridley and Dorothy Wright; and two brothers, Clarence and Chester Jr.
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for the love and support given to our Mom and our family; and also to all who came to visit her in the past few months — it brightened up her days and she loved those visits.
