SKOWHEGAN — DJ Allen crushed a three-run, walkoff home run that was nearly caught at the fence to lead Skowhegan past Lewiston 4-3 in a KVAC boys’ baseball matchup.

Allen batted in all of the runs for Skowhegan (5-8), tallying three hits and a double to go along with his three-run shot. John Swett threw a strong game on the mound, holding the Blue Devils to seven hits.

Austin Wing smacked a pair of hits while driving in two runs for Lewiston. Nick Perreault also chipped in two runs, as the Blue Devils fell to 6-6 on the season.

Leavitt 8, Mt. View 6

THORNDIKE — Nate Rousseau belted a two-run homer in the top of the seventh frame to propel Leavitt to an 8-6 victory over Mt. View in baseball action Friday.

The Hornets were down 6-5 going into the seventh when Mitchel Davis led off with a solo shot to tie the game. Strong hitting from Sam Godfrey guided a well-spread offense. Josh Daigle crossed home plate three times for the Hornets, who jump to 5-7 on the season.

Mt. View outhit Leavitt 12-11, led by Mikey Hustus and Emmett Shell, who notched a pair each.

Mtn. Valley 9, Spruce Mtn. 1

RUMFORD — A couple of home runs and ample pitching provided Mountain Valley with a strong lead as the Falcons cruised to a 9-1 victory over Spruce Mountain in boys’ baseball action.

Tom Marshall and Jacob Beauchesne smacked a home run each for the Falcons (3-10). Caleb Gauvin led all hitters, knocking three balls into play. Gauvin ripped a pair of doubles, while Nick Newman recorded the win on the mound.

Brandon Stearns took the loss from the mound for the Phoenix (4-8), who amassed only four hits on the day.

Poland 20, Freeport 5

FREEPORT — Lukas Johnson smashed two home runs and drove in six runs to propel Poland to a 20-5 victory over Freeport in WMC baseball action.

The Knights tacked on eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the victory and push their record to 9-3 on the season. Timely hitting from Johnson and Jake Simard kept the bats going, as they picked up three hits apiece. Niko DiFazio led the Falcons (4-8) with a pair of hits while batting in two.

Softball

Oak Hill 20, Wiscasset 0

WALES — Oak Hill bats remained red-hot all afternoon in a 20-0 MVC softball rout of Wiscasset.

Sadie Goulet reeled in four RBIs on two triples and a single to get the Raiders’ bats rolling. Kelsey Collins led all batters with four hits while driving in three runs as well. A pitching combo of Goulet and Makayla Nadeau hurled a one-hit ball game through five innings for Oak Hill (7-6).

Wiscasset’s Abby Dunn received the loss on the mound.

Skowhegan 16, Lewiston 0

SKOWHEGAN — Eight players had multiple hits for Skowhegan, led by a 4-for-4 afternoon from Emma Fitzgerald, as the Indians pounded out a 16-0 win over Lewiston in KVAC softball action Friday.

Eliza Bedard and Andrea Quirion also had three hits each for Skowhegan, which earned its 10th win of the season.

Sami Rioux belted the lone hit for Lewiston (1-11) to break up a no-hit bid by Indians’ pitcher Kaitlyn Therriault.

Mt. Abram 11, Carrabec 9

SALEM — A late rally in the bottom of the sixth inning gave Mt. Abram the lift it needed, as the Roadrunners edged past Carrabec 11-9 in MVC softball action Friday.

Mt. Abram (4-9) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, but remained quiet through four frames, adding their final five runs in the sixth. Sarenah Lariviere and Allie Lopez led the offense with a pair of hits each. Lopez and catcher Marya Beedy stroked a double apiece for Mt. Abram, which recorded just eight hits on the day.

The Cobras (5-6) were paced by Paige Chadbourne and Lyndsay Chestnut, who recorded a pair of hits and a double each.

Leavitt 15, Mt. View 1

THORNDIKE — Abby Robertson gave up only three hits in the circle for Leavitt, as the Hornets rolled to a 15-1 win over Mt. View in more softball action Friday.

Robertson picked up her seventh win on the season for the Hornets, getting strong run support from her offense. Kaitlyn Deblois reeled in three hits, while stroking one for a double. Leavitt’s Emily Perkins and Kierstin Leclerc added a pair of hits each, as the Hornets improve to 8-4 on the season.

Dirigo 1, Telstar 0

DIXFIELD — In a pitchers’ duel, Katelyn Olsen threw a shutout to carry Dirigo to a 1-0 victory over Jessica Dirago and Telstar in softball action Friday.

Olsen kept the Rebels (8-3) hitless until the seventh inning when a single by Autum Morin broke up her no-hit bid. She walked one and struck out five during her seven innings of work.

The Cougars (8-3) scored their only run of the game on a steal of home in the fourth inning by Megan Bradbury.

Poland 21, Freeport 6

FREEPORT — Poland slammed home 12 runs in the seventh inning to secure a 21-6 victory over Freeport in softball action Friday.

Haley Whitworth had two hits in the 12-run seventh, including a three-run triple to cap the scoring for the Knights (7-7).

Kylie Martin, who launched a solo shot over the fence in the fifth inning, closed out the final 12 outs on the mound for the save for Poland.

Though Poland only bested Freeport’s hitting by four, they were able to take advantage of pitcher Vanessa Lee’s 20 walks.

Elizabeth Wiest, Lauren Cormier and Jill Barker had two hits apiece in the 10-hit outing for the Falcons.

Boys’ lacrosse

Oak Hill 14, Lincoln 1

NEWCASTLE — Kyle Flaherty scored half the goals as Oak Hill crushed Lincoln Academy 14-1 in boys’ lacrosse action Friday.

Steven Gilbert contributed three goals and an assist for the Raiders.

Matty Martin made four first-half saves for Oak Hill, while scoring his first career goal and assist in the second half in the winning effort.

Girls’ lacrosse

Thornton 5, Lewiston 4

LEWISTON — Laurianne Murphy provided Lewiston with a pair of goals in spite of dropping a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Thornton in girls’ lacrosse action Friday.

Sam Cote was outstanding in goal with 12 saves for the Blue Devils.
