1935 – 2014
LEWISTON — Gloria Mae Gonya, 78, of Auburn died Friday, May 23, at Central Maine Medical Center with her family by her side following a period of declining health.
She was born in Poland on Dec. 14, 1935, the daughter of John and Winona (Chapman) Barry.
She worked in the shoe industry until her retirement.
Gloria loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed all seafood as well as spending time at the ocean. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching cooking shows. She also had a fond love of animals.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa and Dave Forgues of Auburn with whom she lived; Bonny Gonya of Dixfield, Kelly and Paul Thibodeau of Auburn; a son, Rick and Brenda Gonya of Sabattus; her grandchildren, Denise, Christine, Steve, Joshua, Paige and Peyton; great-grandchildren Gloria, Stephen, Delilah, Chase and Clara; and her little buddy, Buka.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Mary; her brothers, Ray, John, Bob and Billy; and a great-grandson, Randy.
