MINOT — Selectmen voted Tuesday to put the tax-acquired property of Christina Walker up for bid. The property is on Minot Avenue, not far from Route 119.
The action came after the board tried for the past three months to work out arrangements with owners of three properties foreclosed on for failure to pay property taxes.
Selectmen directed Town Administrator Arlan Saunders to place notices that all bids are due at the Town Office by 5 p.m. Monday, June 23.
Following a brief public hearing, selectmen adopted an amendment to the Personnel Policy to include a fraud policy the board approved Feb. 22, 2010. The action was taken on recommendation of the town auditor.
Selectmen also accepted and approved the latest report of the town auditor.
“It shows we are in good standing, but we still need to implement a few procedural changes they recommend on pages one and two,” Selectman Eda Tripp said.
Tripp also reported that the latest figures she has show the town is owed about $168,500 in overdue property taxes.
Saunders told selectmen he and Highway Supervisor Scott Parker will meet with Lou Annance of the Bog Hooters ATV Club this week to get signs the town will post along a 3,000-foot section of East Oxford Road. The signs alert users that ATVs are permitted there.
Selectmen also directed Saunders to send a letter to West Minot Grange officials James Trundy and Hester Gilpatric, inviting them to the board’s June 9 meeting to receive a Spirit of America resolution and certificate.
