RUMFORD — Ray Mosca hammered out a bases-loaded, game-winning single with two outs in the sixth inning, giving St. Dom’s a come-from-behind, 4-3 victory over Mountain Valley.
The Falcons (4-12) were leading 3-0 and had a good shot at making the playoffs before the Saints (12-4) marched back with four runs in the sixth. Second baseman Ryan Harvey smacked two-run singled to start the four-run eruption for St. Dom’s.
Ian Austin doubled for Mountain Valley. The Saints had four hits on the day.
Camden Hills 3, Leavitt 0
TURNER — Starting pitcher Connor Graffam threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 as Camden Hills sailed to a 3-0 victory over Leavitt in baseball action Saturday.
Hornets starter Mitchel Davis was stingy as well, giving up just three unearned runs on only five hits and struck out five.
Graffam helped out his own cause by rapping a pair of hits for the Windjammers.
Oxford Hills 5, Lawrence 1
FAIRFIELD — Senior pitcher Riley Chickering tossed a three-hitter and allowed only one run as Oxford Hills rolled to a 5-1 victory over Lawrence in KVAC baseball action Saturday.
The Vikings (9-5) jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning. Aiden Heikenen plated a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning with a double for Oxford Hills.
Chickering fanned nine Lawrence batters in seven innings of work.
Adam Littlefield spoiled the shutout with an RBI double in the seventh inning for the Bulldogs (7-8).
Softball
Leavitt 13, Camden Hills 1
TURNER — Kierstin Leclerc recorded three hits, including a double and a triple, to lead Leavitt to a 13-1 win over Camden Hills in softball action Saturday.
The Hornets (9-5) stung early with nine runs in the first. Leavitt posted another four runs over the next four innings to secure the win by 10-run rule.
Six different players had multiple hits, including Emily Perkins who also posted a double.
Sarah Hilt notched two of the Windjammers’ (6-9) five hits in the losing effort.
Lake Region 9, York 3
NAPLES — Abby Scott-Mitchell plated three runs on a bases clearing double in a six-run fourth inning to lead Lake Region to a 9-3 victory over York in softball action Saturday.
The Lakers (8-7) scored twice in the second on a double by Allison Morse and an RBI single by Destinee Durant.
Lake Region pitcher Ashley Clark fanned six batters to earn the win.
Kendall Carr belted a triple to lead off the fourth inning for the Wildcats, and scored on a base hit by Stephanie Rundlett. Carr and Rundlett singled in the sixth and scored on a hit by the catcher, Fister.
Mt. Ararat 8, Lewiston 4
LEWISTON — Devon Hutchins collected a pair of hits to lead Mt. Ararat to an 8-4 victory over Lewiston in KVAC softball action Saturday.
The Blue Devils (1-14) scored four runs in the first inning. Catcher Maggie Phelan produced two hits and two RBIs, and made an impressive tag at home plate to prevent a Mt. Ararat run.
Lewiston left 10 runners on base, and the Eagles rallied for seven runs over the last three innings to rob Lewiston of what would have been their second win of the season.
Mountain Valley 10, St. Dom’s 3
Vikings (10-4) pitcher Crystal West only gave up eight hits. Anna Winslow had a two-run homer in the third inning and Monica Hawthorne tripled.
