1928 – 2014

LEWISTON — Pauline R. Allen, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, at The Lamp Residential Care Facility, with her daughter by her side.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 6, 1928, the daughter of Albert Simpson and Marie Bilodeau.

Pauline graduated from Lewiston High School and received her business degree from Burdett College in Boston. She and her husband, the late Wilmer T. “Wil” Allen, adopted two children, a daughter and a son. She worked in the cafeteria at Pettingill Elementary while her children attended school there and was later employed at Peoples Bank (TD Bank), from which she retired as a loan officer after 22 years of service.

Pauline treasured the time she spent with her family at their camp on Middle Range Pond, swimming, boating and snowmobiling. She also enjoyed skiing and camping. Pauline loved to travel and she often accompanied her husband on business trips. They visited Bermuda and took a Caribbean cruise to celebrate a special wedding anniversary.

Pauline enjoyed attending events and social activities with her many friends. She especially enjoyed dining out weekly with a special group of friends she referred to as “The Lunch Bunch.”

Pauline was a devout Catholic, attending St. Peter’s, St. Francis and Holy Family churches.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy M. Allen and her partner, Mary M. Heaphy, of Lewiston; her son, James J. Allen, of Brewer; three grandsons and two great-grandsons. She is also survived by one niece, five nephews and their families, as well as several cousins.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Wil Allen; and her brothers, Albert and Roger Simpson.

Pauline will be remembered as an independent, proud and religious woman, who loved her family, friends and God. She will be dearly missed.
