1930 – 2014

LIVERMORE — Dorothy E. Goding, 83, a resident of Poland Road, Livermore, died Tuesday evening, June 3, after her home caught on fire.

She was born on Dec. 9, 1930, in Boston, Mass., a daughter of Robert C. Hynes and Lillian G. (Wood) Hynes. She attended school in Boston and graduated from Milo High School. On July 17, 1954, in North Livermore, she married Philip Goding; he passed away on Feb. 2, 1992.

In her younger years, Dorothy worked as a custodian at the Prudential Building, Boston Mutual and Schrafft’s Candy Co. She later worked at Livermore Shoe and Berry Hill Orchards. She was a member of Gibbs Mill Baptist Church and North Livermore Baptist Church.

Dorothy enjoyed going to church, picking raspberries, cooking, following her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and taking care of her dog, “Whiney.”

She is survived by her son, Maynard Goding and his wife, Brenda, of Livermore; her daughter, Mary Lou Beckler and her husband, Doug, of Canton; four grandchildren, Brad Beckler, Allison Chambers and Jeremy and Joshua Goding; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Francis Tilton, of Temple; brothers, Norman Hynes of Norwood, Mass., Donald Hynes of Kennebunk and Robert Hynes of Dorchester, Mass.; and her uncle, Herbert C. Hynes, of Methuen, Mass.

She was predeceased by her sister, Louise Lamper; and Madolyn Vincent, a very caring woman who guided Dorothy during her teenage years.
