DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for your column. I would like to know if you have a list of people who would do housework for others. I am 81 years old and need someone to wash my floors and dust. Could you please give me an answer? I’m desperate. — No Name, Lewiston

ANSWER: It has been quite a while since Sun Spots has covered this topic, and she didn’t save those names. Readers, please send in the names and phone numbers (not just email) of your favorite cleaner, and Sun Spots will make that a new Rolodex category.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have heard many people complaining about taking six hours after discharge to be able to leave Central Maine Medical Center because of dictation issues. We have experienced this twice. It is very stressful for patients and families. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots did not think she was ever going to get an answer to this question, but finally Randall Dustin, CMMC spokesman, wrote:

“Occasionally there have been delays in discharge summaries that in turn have delayed discharges. To address this problem, a transcription call coverage plan was implemented. Since this plan was introduced, this processing delay has been greatly alleviated. However, sometimes unforeseen circumstances do cause a delay in the system. This happens infrequently, but we continue to monitor the process to determine if further process improvement opportunities exist. We understand that patients want to get home as soon as possible, and we make our best effort to discharge patients in a timely manner.”

Sun Spots knows someone who does hospital transcriptions, and she says they are always very busy. Maybe that’s a good job opportunity for fast typists?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all of the service you provide for the community. I am writing to say that we have a stainless steel side-by-side refrigerator in excellent shape we would like to give to any organization in the area that may need it. It has ice and water in the door, and the ice-maker is brand new. We have purchased a larger model and would like to find someone to make good use of this one. — Ellie or Kip Leight, 207-998-5371, ellie.leight@gmail.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots is sure you will be mobbed with requests from nonprofits as well as other groups and individuals.
