CANTON — Voters will choose from among a total of nine people seeking two seats on the Board of Selectmen in Tuesday’s elections.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 10 at the Municipal Office.

Seeking a three-year term are Russell Adams, former Selectman Lisa Cummings, Chris Dailey, Malcolm Ray, former Selectman Richard Ray and Donald Ulmer.

Running for a one-year term are Norris Conant, Lindsy Hayes and Donald Hutchins.

Tricia Blanchard is seeking a seat on the Planning Board.

At the annual town meeting Thursday, June 12, voters will be asked to adopt a Fire Department Ordinance that stsates the chief will be elected by residents for a three-year term instead of being appointed by selectmen.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the fire station.

There are 33 warrant articles that reflect a budget of $616,122.

A resident presented a petition to selectmen to have the Fire Department Ordinance put on the warrant. The proposed law would have assistant chiefs elected every three years by members of the department instead of being appointed by the chief.

Other articles include requests to:

* Allow the Recreation Department to make improvements at the ball field, including dismantling the ice rink and developing it into a parking area.

* Create a Canton Wind Power Ordinance.

* Create an ordinance for removing any elected official from any board or committee.

* Apply for a bond of not more than $400,000 to repair Staples Hill Road.
