East Auburn collects two wins

East Auburn defeated Gifford’s in an epic battle for first place in Auburn Suburban Major Division baseball. The game took eight innings to resolve, with East Auburn finally prevailing 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth. Stellar pitching by Ben Cassidy and Giles Paradie for East Auburn and Ricky Cote and Austin Brown kept the hitters at bay in this defensive battle.

Cassidy struck out 12 batters in 41/3 innings, yielding just one hit and not allowing Giffords any runs. Paradie relieved Cassidy in the fifth and struck out seven batters, while giving up only three hits and a run over 32/3 innings to pick up the victory for East Auburn. For Gifford’s, Cote and Brown were equally impressive. Cote struck out seven batters over 42/3 innings, giving up just four hits and one run. Brown relieved Cote in the fifth and yielded just two hits and struck out four the rest of the way. Ben Cassidy opened up the bottom of the eighth with a double and then took third and scored on two consecutive passed balls. Kamden Masselli, Christian Frey, Paradie and Will Cassidy also had hits for East Auburn. Dominic Priola led the way for Gifford’s with two hits.Luke Josephson and Connor Burchell had Gifford’s other two hits.

East Auburn picked up another victory against Auburn Fire Fighters 7-2. Will Cassidy picked up the victory on the mound for East Auburn. Kamden Masselli pitched three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the save. East Auburn was led offensively by Giles Paradie who went 3 for 4 with a single, double and triple. Cameron Langis and Kamden Masselli also picked up hits for the victors. Cameron Winslow, Alex Avila, Marius Morneau, Anson Perry led AFF offensively. Winslow, Morneau and Ethan Chute provided stellar pitching for the Firefighters.

Austin Associates 14. Hardy, Wolf & Downing 2

Austin Associates took an early 5-0 lead and rolled to a 14-2 victory over Hardy, Wolf and Downing in a recent Little League game. Fabulous pitching of Austin’s Drew Bennett and Jason Brooker kept HWD off balance. Parker Kramarz and Gabe Garcia each scored a run for Hardy Wolf and Downing in the bottom of the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome Austin’s dominance, which ended early due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Winthrop sweeps

WINTHROP — Caleb Fortin was the winning pitcher and Matt Ingram singled and Hunter Hamlin, and Jackson Ladd each doubled as Winthrop beat Sabattus 7-4 in an Apple Valley Babe Ruth game. For Sabattus, Darryn Baily singled twice and Cody Doyon single and Brent Mulherin added a hit. In another game, Winthrop went one to beat Sabattus again, 9-5. Matt Ingram was the winning pitcher. Teammates Zac Robertston, Cam Gaghan, Jacob Hickey each singled twice. For Sabattus, Reid Cote, Matt Clifford and Brent Mulherin each singled.
