LIVERMORE FALLS — Voters elected Ronald Chadwick to a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday by a vote of 278-148 over longtime Selectman William Demaray.

In a 317-100 vote, Mary Young defeated former Selectman Jeff Bryant for a two-year term as selectman.

Voters passed all articles on a $2.45 million municipal budget for 2014-15.

The budget is $5,670 less than this fiscal year.

The only article that failed was one that would have allowed the town to exceed the property tax limit. The vote was 174 in favor and 205 opposed.

Residents also voted to restore the name of the town park to Union Park by a vote of 264-111.

Selectmen changed the name in 2008 to Geneva Hodgkins Memorial Park in honor of Hodgkins, who adopted the park and took care of it before she died in 2008. Her family has taken care of the park in her memory.

The Grand Army of the Republic initially donated the park to the town in the early 1900s in memory of Union soldiers who fought in the Civil War.

Veterans asked selectmen in August 2013 to change the name back to Union Park. Veterans collected enough signatures to get the name restoration question on the ballot.

RSU 73 director Denise Rodzen, who was unopposed, was re-elected with 347 votes to serve another three-year term.
