1923 – 2014
VENICE, Fla. — Giovanna “Jennie” (Daniels) Roy, 91, a resident of Englewood, Fla., and formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 7, at Tidewell Hospice House following a long illness.
She was born in Frosolone, Italy, on May 1, 1923, the daughter of Nicola and Incoranata (Cardina) Masselli. Jennie immigrated to America and settled in Lewiston at a young age. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School and continued her education at the former Gorham State Teachers College, where she obtained two master’s degrees and her advanced certification in reading. She retired from the Auburn School Department after 40 years of teaching.
Besides teaching, she loved needlepoint and serving as a Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher at her beloved family parish, the former St. Patrick’s Church.
Survivors include one son, Nicholas Daniels, of Englewood, Fla.; three stepsons, Phil, Mike and Ronnie Roy; and one stepgranddaughter, Emily Roy. Also surviving are her relatives from the Masselli and Palange families.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Daniels; her second husband, Philibert Roy; and one stepson, Jim.
