LEWISTON — Lewiston Middle School’s Career Aspiration Director, Billie Jo Brito, announced that Matt Zidle of WMTW has been named the 2014 START Star.

A Lewiston native, Zidle says that forecasting the weather in your hometown is “a dream come true.” As part of an innovative middle school aspirations initiative, all eighth-grade students will hear him tell his story on Friday, June 13.

During the week, eighth-grade students will visit Southern Maine Community College, Bates College, observe Career & Technical Education classes available to them in high school, attend an information session on finances sponsored by The Finance Authority of Maine, participate in a interpersonal communication seminar and learn about the risks of substance abuse.

Parents are encouraged to attend the recap night on Monday, June 16, in the Lewiston Middle School auditorium at 6 p.m.

Tours of Lewiston Middle School, highlighting recent renovations, will be given at 5:30 p.m. for those interested.
