BOSTON — Brittany Martin, daughter of Jeanne and Dan Martin of Lewiston, has been named to the dean’s list with distinction for the spring 2014 semester at Boston University.

A 2011 graduate of Lewiston High School, Martin is majoring in graphic design.

NEWTON, Mass. — Brandyn Cloutier of Dixfield graduated with a Bachelor of Science in fashion merchandising and marketing from Mount Ida College on May 16.

NEWTON, Mass. — Shawna Virgin of Rumford graduated with a Associate in Arts in veterinary technician from Mount Ida College on May 16.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Abbey Leigh Ellis of New Vineyard has been named to the 2014 spring dean’s list at Kutztown University. 

FINDLAY, Ohio — Kyla Meyer of South Paris graduated from The University of Findlay. Meyer received a Bachelor of Science in equestrian studies/equine business management.

WATERVILLE — Allison M. Nolan of South Paris, a member of the Class of 2014 at Colby College, was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa this spring. Membership in the society is one of the highest academic honors an undergraduate student can achieve.

Nolan, who majored in Latin American studies, was one of 48 students to be inducted. A graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, she is the daughter of Yamile Nolan of South Paris and Brian Nolan of South Paris.

CINCINNATI — Benjamin Ramser of Turner has achieved dean’s list recognition for spring 2013-14 at University of Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI — Christopher Libby of Auburn was awarded his Master of Science at the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Cincinnati.

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Poland resident Alexandra Kate Herland has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2014 semester. Herland is a senior whose major is accounting – BBA.

ASHLAND, Va. — Fred Creamer Parks of Buckfield graduated with a degree in chemistry from Randolph-Macon College on May 31.

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Nels Christensen, Class of 2014 at Connecticut College, was awarded the Botanical Society of America Young Botanist Award. Christensen was presented with the award at the annual Honors & Awards ceremony on May 5.

Christensen, a 2008 graduate of Rangeley Lakes Regional School, is the son of Peter and Jeanine Christensen of Rangeley.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Tessa Theriault has been named to the dean’s list at Saint Anselm College for the 2013 fall semester and the 2014 spring semester.

Tessa is a Presidential Scholar and member of the honors program majoring in classical archaeology and in classics.

She is the incoming president of Saint Anselm’s Classics Society and has been awarded The Etruscan Foundation 2014 Fieldwork Fellowship for her archaeology work in Castel Viscardo, Italy.

She is a 2011 graduate of Poland Regional High School.

CANTON, N.Y. — Haley R. Burrowes of New Gloucester has been inducted into St. Lawrence University’s chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honorary society for economics. Burrowes, a member of the Class of 2014, is majoring in economics. Burrowes graduated from Waynflete School.

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Kelly Harris ’18 of Greene was named to the Eastern Connecticut State University spring 2014 semester dean’s list for full-time students. Harris’s major is sociology.

MEMPHIS — Jeremy Theriault of Auburn was among graduates who received degrees at the 165th commencement exercises of Rhodes College on May 10. 

The son of David and Karen Theriault, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

SELINSGROVE, Pa.— Jacob Lapierre of Lewiston was one of six students from Susquehanna University who recently spent time in Fort Albany and Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, as part of the university’s Global Opportunities program.

GO North: An Introduction to Cree Culture and Contemporary Issues in Northern Ontario gave students the opportunity to explore the Mushkegowuk Cree culture of Northern Ontario through service learning in Fort Albany. Students spent much of their time volunteering with and for community programs; these included placements in the school, social service programs and the hospital. The return trip offered the chance of exploring “mainstream” Canadian culture and government with a visit to Ottawa.

Lapierre is studying psychology at Susquehanna, where he will be a senior in the fall. He is a 2011 graduate of Lewiston High School and the son of Gerry and Brenda Lapierre.

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Elizabeth Chenard of Salem Township was named to the spring 2014 president’s list at Lyndon State College.

Chenard is a senior majoring in graphic design with a concentration in print.
