Teaberry Arts Council plans August Art Walk with a call for artists

RUMFORD — The newly formed regional Teaberry Arts Council’s first Art Walk will be held Sunday, Aug. 17 at the northern half of the half-mile walking trail behind the Hosmer Field complex. The forested area, complete with a beautiful paved walking path and scenic views of the river, is a prime spot for artists and performers to display their work, as well as actively create and perform for the Art Walk.

Local artist Liz Murphy said, “This is just a perfect location for art, it’s so magical. It’s a great resource in our community. It’s exciting to use it in such a positive way.”

Retired art teacher and local artist Christine Wing said, “There are so many beautiful spots here, it’s really a wonderful opportunity. I’ve already seen several places I’d like to paint.”

Artists will display their work and some will actively work on new pieces during the Art Walk, while various performance artists perform. Scot Grassette said, “We expect to have musicians, poets, and plenty of variety. We’re confident your eyes and ears will be pleased.”

There will be plenty to see for art lovers of all ages including many activities to stop and enjoy along the way. There is also a plan for several interactive displays for kids. There will be a community campfire and acoustic jam from 8-9 p.m. or later.

The TAC is currently accepting calls for local artists, musicians, and performers to participate at no cost. To be added to the agenda and activity map, email [email protected] or call 207-357-6987.
