1926 – 2014
DACULA, Ga. — Alma Brown Beckler, 88, a resident of Gainesville, Ga., and formerly of Livermore and Orr’s Island, passed away on Thursday, June 12, at her senior care home in Dacula, Ga.
She was born in Blaine on May 20, 1926, a daughter of Joel T. and Annie (Watkins) Brown. Alma was a graduate of Ricker High School, Ricker Junior College, Auburn Maine School of Commerce and the University of Maine. She was married on Sept. 2, 1950, in Monmouth, to Mortimer P. Beckler, her husband of 62 years.
Alma was a beloved school teacher at Edward Little High School for many years and later helped her husband run the Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore. She loved talking to anyone and everyone about anything, and enjoyed just about everything she did.
She is survived by her son, William Scott Beckler and his wife, Rita, of Milton, Ga.; and her grandchildren, Kendra K. Beckler, William Scott Beckler II, Brenda Beckler and Thomas Beckler.
Alma was predeceased by her son, Bruce Michael Beckler; her husband, Mortimer P. Beckler; her brothers, Everett Brown, Wilber Brown, Alton Brown, Arnold Brown, Delmar Brown and Bernard Brown; and sister, Alberta V. Brown.
