1927 – 2014

CORINNA — Armand Joseph Hebert, our “Mato,” “Dad” and “PePe,” as he was affectionately called, left this world on Thursday, June 19, in Corinna, at the age of 87. He entered the hallowed hunting grounds in Heaven, where he will hunt and fish for eternity with his beloved sons, David and Brian.

Our Dad was born in Berlin, N.H., on March 19, 1927, to Robert and Emilda (Bourassa) Hebert. In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy, in which he proudly and honorably served his country during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He earned the respect and admiration of his shipmates, where he was affectionately given the nickname “Frenchie,” which he loved.

Dad married our Mom, the former Pauline Pomerleau, on Aug. 23, 1948, in the town of Chisholm, which is now known as Jay. They began their lives together there and had seven children. He raised his seven children with a firm hand and a gentle heart. He worked very hard to provide a warm home, food on the table and clothes on our backs. What more could one ask for?

In 1971, Dad accepted a position as supervisor at Dexter Shoe Co., and moved his family to Corinna. This was the start of many wonderful and loving memories with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dad loved to hunt and fish, camp in his younger years with his kids, nieces and nephews and raccoon hunt with his favorite dog, Rex. Later in life, when the grandchildren were born, he would do the same with them, where the bonds of being a Pepe would endure forever. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their Pepe and he adored them. His favorite times were having all his large family around him, when he would joke and keep all of us laughing. His many stories were colorful and funny, which made it that much easier to love him.

He enjoyed his vegetable garden, mowing his lawn and purchasing his weekly Megabucks ticket and scratch tickets. He loved to sit on his front porch with a “cold” beverage and wave at the people as they walked or drove by. He especially loved to watch the ladies across the street. Thanks, Joanne and Autumn, for keeping an eye on him.

Armand was a communicant of Our Lady of The Snows Parish/St. Anne’s Church in Dexter and was a member of the Cardinal Mercer Knights of Columbus, also in Dexter.

Dad is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Pauline; his faithful dog, TJ; his son, Armand and wife, Kathy Hebert, of Cambridge; his daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Marvin Lister of Corinna, Diane and Alan Rabideau of Dexter, Linda and Darryl Henderson of Corinna and Debbie and Seth “Brad” Bradstreet of Newport; his beloved grandchildren and spouses, Jamie and Katherine Hebert of England, Amy and Bill Sandifer of Waterville, Jessica and Paul Dyer, Brydon Lister and Scott Lister, all of Corinna, Haley Rabideau of Portland, Chris and Tara Rabideau of Eddington, Rachel Henderson of Corinna, Shawn Henderson and fiancée, Danielle White, Seth and Hillary Bradstreet and Sarah Bradstreet, all of Newport; his beloved great-grandchildren, Kane, Lukas and Markus Sandifer, Abbigail and Brady Bradstreet and Drake Henderson; and his siblings, Helen Buote, Loretta Hebert and Aurore Provencher of Jay.
