It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Heartbroken, he is forced to reexamine the meaning of love and marriage with the help of Julia, a waitress from one of his wedding-singing venues. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.
There are three weddings, an anniversary party and a bar mitzvah party full of characters and surprising events. This entertaining musical will have you singing in your seats and humming the music as you leave the theater.
Performers include Sam Straub as Robbie who will have you crying, laughing and singing in your seats. Dagmar Wetherill portrays the helpful friend Holly; Ariel Clinch is the confused romantic, Julia, who is engaged to the dashing Wall Street shark, Glen played by Connor Durgin. The large chorus portray several characters including Tina Turner, Mr. T, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and Cyndi Lauper who all show up at the White House Chapel in Las Vegas to celebrate with the happy couple — but which one?
Music was written by Matthew Sklar based on the book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy with lyrics written by Chad Beguelin.
