KINGFIELD — Our Dad and Grampa, Everett Jordan, 92, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, with his family by his side.
Born on Sept. 3, 1921, in Manchester, N.H., to Fred and Ada Jordan, Everett served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 29, 1950, he married the love of his life, Evangeline Verney Jordan.
He lived the majority of his life in Kingfield, where he and Evangeline bought their “home” in 1957. They founded Jordan Lumber Co., which has been serving Maine since 1968. During his retirement years, he enjoyed the lovely house they built in Cape Coral, Fla.
Everett will be especially remembered for many of his achievements, besides his passion for work, his love of hunting and fishing, his successful businesses and love of baseball. In his younger years, he was in the baseball farm league as a left-handed pitcher, for which he received $25 per game. He was called up by the Red Sox majors, but couldn’t accept because he was drafted into World War II.
