BETHEL — A New Hampshire man died Sunday afternoon when a car struck his motorcycle on Route 2 in Bethel.

Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant said Timothy Daigle, 43, of New Boston, N.H., was driving west on Route 2 when a car driven by Steven Thomas, 52, of Califon, N.J., and Bethel tried to turn onto Sunday River Road and hit Daigle, who died at the scene. Daigle’s passenger, Patricia Ensigh of New Boston, N.H., was taken to Rumford Hospital and was later flown to Central Maine Medical Center.

Thomas and his wife, Allison Smith, 49, were taken to Rumford Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Route 2 was closed for three hours. No charges have been filed, and the accident remains under investigation.
