Independence Day parade July 3

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay/Livermore Falls Parade Committee invites participation in the annual Independence Day Parade set for Thursday, July 3.

Line-up starts at 4 p.m. at Memco. Parade kicks off at 5, starting at Memco and ending at Ware Butler in Livermore Falls.

Consider getting friends, family, coworkers and organizations involved; decorate a float, tractors, trucks, bikes, wagons or just walk with a banner, to celebrate this time of year.

After the parade, come to the VFW for a chicken barbecue for $8 per person.

The fireworks will take place at sunset.

Turner fireworks on July 4

TURNER — The Town of Turner fireworks show will be held July 4 in Caldwell fields in Turner Center. They will start at 8:45 and are free.

Historical Society museums to open

WATERFORD — The Waterford Historical Society will have two museums open on the Fourth of July from 9 a.m. until noon: the Mary Gage Rice Museum next to the Waterford Library and the Old Town House next to Keoka Lake.

WHS will also meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at the North Waterford Church. The program will be “Reflections on the Five Kezars,” with speakers from each of the lakes who will talk about settlement and summer visitors. There will be potluck refreshments after the meeting.

Beginning on July 7, the Old Town House Museum will be open every Monday in the summer from 1 to 3 p.m.

Strawberry Festival in Locke Mills

LOCKE MILLS — A Strawberry Festival will be held Saturday, July 5, at the Locke Mills Union Church, from 7:30 a.m. until sold out. There will be Belgian waffles, strawberries, pies, shortcakes and more.

Flea market, craft fair in Phillips

PHILLIPS — First Saturday Flea Market and Craft Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Phillips Area Community Center on Depot Street.

WEST PARIS — The public is invited to attend an open house at the Finnish-American Heritage Center from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoons throughout July and August, except Aug. 17.

This is an opportunity to visit the museum, browse the library, visit the gift shop and converse with the hosts and hostesses over a cup of coffee.
