LOCKE MILLS — A supper dance will be held from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the American Legion Hall. Doors open at 4.

Music by the Jones Band.

Menu will include ham, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls and pies.

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open Saturdays, July 5 and 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. The Clothing Center is directly across from the church.

Deering Memorial free breakfasts

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church continues to host free community breakfasts from 8 to 9 a.m. each Sunday.

Each week a Breakfast Team serves up a homemade hot breakfast. The menu changes weekly with some of the most popular recipes featured such as baked stuffed French toast, homemade cinnamon rolls, egg casseroles, home fries, pancakes and more. There is always cereal, toast, coffee, juice and fruit.

Organizers welcome help or donations of breakfast supplies. A free-will offering is available for anyone wishing to donate towards the cost of the breakfast.

The church is on the corner of Main and Church streets and is accessible. Parking is available behind the library.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners of the New England-wide STaC tournament at the Lewiston Armory on June 23 were as follows: first, Richard Balian and Luke Merry; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; fourth, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

The Monday A.M. championship tournament was played by 176 pairs in New England. Luke Merry and Richard Balian tied for fourth place overall in Flight B.

Winners of the New England-wide STaC tournament at the Armory on June 24 were as follows: N/S first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock, first overall; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn, third overall; third, Hazel Glazier and Richard Allen; fourth/first in C, Della Starbird and Paul Clement; E/W first, Patricia Quinn and Richard Balian, second overall; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau, fourth overall; third, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements, fifth overall; first in C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

The Tuesday a.m. New England-wide championship was played by 171 pairs. Patricia Garcia and David Lock placed second overall in Flight A and first overall in Flight B. Patricia Quinn and Richard Balian placed fifth overall in Flight B.

Congratulations to the only Maine overall winners from the Lewiston Bridge Club.

Texas Hold’em Tournament

LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Post 68 will host a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, July 12, at the Legion Post home, 595 Gore Road. It will benefit the veterans programs and Legion Baseball.

Entry fee is $50 with $5 to the license.

There will also be High Hand Entry of $5, 50/50 and pull tabs.

Honey Bee Club workshop

PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s workshop will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.

Topic will be taking off honey supers.

Items sought for Rotary auction

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Rotary Club is looking for good, clean, gently used items for their upcoming charity auction at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Acceptable items include wood furniture, collectibles of all kinds, tools, outdoor items, sports equipment, antiques, jewelry, gift certificates and cash donations. No major appliances, soiled or torn furniture, tires, computers, monitors or printers.

The public is invited to set up their own tables for a community yard sale on the day of the auction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A $5 registration fee per space will be charged. To reserve a space, call Paul Thornfeldt at 744-9383.

All proceeds from the auction help support the Oxford Hills Rotary Club projects including dictionaries to all third graders, May Day Play Day, Special Olympics, scholarships, Project Graduation, holiday food baskets, local food pantries and students of the month, to name a few. Two bake sales, flea markets planned

WATERFORD — The North Waterford Church (on Route 35, across from Melby’s Eatery) is planning a pair of bake sales/flea markets this summer. The events will be held at the church on two Saturdays, July 19 and Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
