LISBON — The Police Department continues to investigate an armed robbery at the Five County Credit Union that occurred Thursday afternoon.

The department said in a news release that initial reports were that a person entered the credit union, immediately displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the tellers and a customer.

The suspect was described as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and medium build. The person was wearing dark-colored pants and a dark colored, zip-up hooded sweatshirt with a mask covering his face, the news release said.

The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money to the side parking lot. No shots were fired and no one was harmed during the robbery, police said.

Lisbon police, Sabattus police and Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies who were in the area searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. A dog from the Auburn Police Department attempted to pick up a track from the scene but was unsuccessful.

The credit union was closed after the suspect fled.

Lisbon police have been in contact with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation who are following up on the investigation and will be processing the scene and evidence .
