FARMINGTON — A Strong woman was banned Wednesday from going to any Walmart or Sam’s Club store for the next year after she was charged with trying to steal $95 worth of food items and clothing from the Farmington Walmart, Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

Officer Ryan Rosie arrested Edith Green, 35, on a misdemeanor charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, she said.

A company asset officer spotted a woman acting suspicious at the store and watched her as she tried to leave the store. Green was detained and police were called. She was cooperative during the investigation, Rosie wrote in his report, Pomeroy said.

Wal-Mart issued an official trespass notice that prohibits her from going to any of its stores. If she does, she can be arrested, Pomeroy said.

Green was still being held at the Franklin County jail in Farmington on $250 cash bail early Thursday afternoon.
