LEWISTON — A bench honoring Maj. Andrew E Morin, who served in three wars during his 20-year career in the Army, was dedicated at Veterans Memorial Park recently.

The engraved bench was donated by his daughter Louise Dufour.

Morin served in the artillery during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He earned the Bronze Star in Korea.

He enlisted as a private in 1940 and worked his way through the ranks, receiving many letters of Meritorious Service, Letters of Appreciation, Presentation of Awards and Ribbons of Commendation. He retired in October 1965.

Afterward, he worked for the state of Maine from January 1966 to February 1983. He was also a volunteer track official for Bowdoin College for 26 years and served on the Brunswick Housing Authority Board for 22 years, 21 of those as chairman.
