JAY — Police are investigating a burglary at a home on Belleview Drive where copper piping was cut and ripped from the plumbing system and the furnace in the basement.

The homeowner reported the break-in Friday morning. It occurred between late Thursday and early Friday.

More than $3,000 of damage was done to the house, acting police Chief Richard Caton IV said.

Police have possible leads. They collected evidence at the scene which has been brought to a crime laboratory to be analyzed, he said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.

Livermore Falls police have been investigating copper piping stolen from two abandoned or vacant homes that were reported last weekend.
