An armed robbery took place at the Big Apple Store on Railroad Street in Bethel Saturday morning.

According to Lt. Tom Harriman of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department the report of the robbery came in at 4:49 a.m.
Harriman said a male subject entered the store brandishing a firearm and demanding items from the male clerk. The subject then fled out the back door, apparently on foot.
Harriman declined to identify what was taken at this time.
He said the subject was dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and a mask, and was about six feet tall and 200 pounds.
Deputy Stephen Witham was the first law enforcement officer to respond, but Harriman said he did not have the deputy’s arrival time immediately available.
He said three other deputies, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department, Sheriff Wayne Gallant, a K-9 unit and State Police also responded.
There are no known suspects at this time, Harriman said, and the investigation is continuing.
The store clerk was not injured in the incident.
