LIMINGTON — A pilot was killed when his single-engine aircraft crashed 200 yards away from the runway of the Limington-Harmon Airport Saturday afternoon, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and the Portland Press Herald.

The pilot was identified as 52-year-old Clark Tate of Gray, according to WMTW. He was the only passenger on the plane.

Witnesses say the plane went down shortly after takeoff. Tate was en route to the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport, the Portland Press Herald reported.
