CARTHAGE — Police said a Dixfield man was charged with drunken driving after his car rolled over on Carthage Road/Route 142.

Cody J. Berryment, 19, was coming from a party and heading toward Weld when he lost control of the 2007 Honda Civic, Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. David Rackliffe said Monday.

Deputies Sandy Burke and Colt Bernhardt, and Maine State Police responded to the 1:21 a.m. accident. Berryment was checked at the scene by Med-Care Ambulance Services personnel and given a field sobriety test, Rackliffe said.

Bernhardt arrested Berryment on a charge of operating under the influence, and he was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington, Rackliffe said.

Berryment was also charged with operating without a license, he said.

Drivers under 21 have conditional licenses and if alcohol is found in their system while driving, their license is voided, Rackliffe said.

Berryment posted $100 cash bail and was released later Saturday.

His car was demolished.
