LEWISTON — The New Lewiston Mandarin Chinese restaurant is coming down and a new New Lewiston Mandarin Chinese restaurant is planned to go up in its place.

The brick, one-story building at 750 Sabattus St. was too aged for the 7-year-old restaurant, owner Tony Zhang said Tuesday.

It’s currently marked for demolition.

Zhang said he’s waiting for construction permits and hopes to start rebuilding within the month and reopen in three months.

The new restaurant will be larger, offering more sushi and hibachi in addition to Chinese food, Zhang said.
