CAMDEN — As the Lewiston/Auburn area gardeners have missed the L/A home and garden tours that were formerly held several years ago, many travel for the Camden Garden Club’s popular tour.
This year’s tour will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 17. It will include a visit to a garden which this year won the New England Region’s award for the best perennial garden created and maintained by a National Garden Club member, plus the beautiful Avena herb gardens, with morning and afternoon walks with the owner to talk about herbal medicines.
The tour also will include a fundraiser luncheon buffet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the John Street Methodist Church.
More information can be had at www.camdengardenclub.com. Advance tickets may be purchased for $25 by calling Signe Mather at 596-7263 or online at the club website. Tickets the day of the tour will be $30, at the Maine Sport parking lot on Route 1, Camden, and the Camden Hills State Park, Route 1. On the day of tour, no credit cards will be accepted. Unfortunately, much of the tour this year is not handicapped accessible.
