1936 – 2014
RUMFORD — Geneva W. Raymond, 77, died Tuesday, July 15, at her home on Grove Avenue in Rumford, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Corinth, N.Y., on Nov. 8, 1936, a daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Henry) Wing. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1955, and attended the University of Maine in Rumford. Geneva worked as a store clerk at Shop & Save in Rumford until her retirement in 1991.
She was a member of the Swasey-Torry Post No. 100, American Legion; a member of Rumford United Methodist Church, having served as the church historian; and she also served as treasurer of GRAMPS. She enjoyed her crafts and loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was married in Rumford on Nov. 26, 1965, to Joseph Alphonse Rene Raymond, who died in Rumford on April 18, 2000.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Broomhall and his significant other, Donna Brooks, of Locke Mills and Duane Miller and spouse, Harvey, of Otisfield; three daughters, Doreen Jones of Sabattus and her significant other, Chris Wakefield, Darlene Beaudet and husband, Gary, of Canton and Tricia Raymond and husband, William Tracy, of Windham; two stepdaughters, Toni Chivilo of Princeton, Mass., and Ann Desjardins and her husband, Peter, of Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Jean Griffin, of Maine; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her circle of friends, including James and Naomi Robertson and Rose Gaccetta.
