DEAR SUN SPOTS: Two years go my wife and I were riding around the countryside and came across a several-acre field full of sunflowers. We have tried many times to find it again to take pictures with no luck.

We think it was in the Turner-Buckfield-Sumner area but are not sure. Can anyone out there enlighten us? — John Bay, West Minot

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you like to support early childhood literacy in your community?

If you have one hour per week available to read to children, please contact the BookReach volunteer reading program. We serve children ages 0 to 5 in small in-home day cares throughout Lewiston, Auburn and Minot. Help foster children’s enthusiasm for books so they will be ready to learn when they reach school!

BookReach is an early literacy program of the Lewiston and Auburn public libraries. For more information and an application packet for readers or day care providers, please contact me. — Heather Runnels, bookreach@lewistonmaine.gov, 207-513-3004, ext. 3515

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On July 3 Lisa wrote looking for an ice cream truck to attend an event. I sent her the following information by email but thought other readers might want to know.

In July’s Woman’s Day magazine (womansday.com) there was a story about Darling’s Car dealership in Augusta “Melting Hearts,” page 16). Fundraisers reserve the truck for two to three hours. Darling’s employees hand out treats and encourage donations. Sounds cool to me.

There was no other contact information, but the company’s director of operations is Ron Russell. — Angela Delorme, Auburn
