OLD TOWN – Join the University of Maine Cooperative Extension at Rogers Farm, located on the Bennoch Road, on July 22 for The Ecology of Gardening with Native Plants at 6PM.

 Julie Beckford of Rebel Hill Farm will speak about the ecological interactions of native flora and fauna (particularly pollinators), and why native plants are so important. Recommendations and UMaine publications for native plants tolerant of shady sites will be available.

 This public talk is presented by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Penobscot County Master Gardeners. Rogers Farm Master Gardener Demonstration Garden is located at 914 Bennoch Road, Old Town.

 No reservation is needed and the event will be held rain or shine.

 Visit the garden any Tuesday evening from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. through August. Meet the Master Gardeners who make the magic happen at Rogers Farm! Bring your questions and expand your garden knowledge.

The next summer event will be held on August 19for the 4th annual Art in the Garden at 6 p.m.
