DURHAM — A 20-year-old Durham driver, Jessica Abbott of Stack Pole Road, was killed in a single-car crash 9:30 p.m. Saturday. She was alone in the car and was less than two miles from her home.

Maine State Police Sgt. Kyle Tilsley said Abbot was driving north near 617 Stack Pole Road when she lost control of her car at the top of a hill. Her 1999 Honda CRV went off the left shoulder and slammed into a tree.

She was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

The road was closed for four hours to reconstruct the accident scene, Sgt. Tilsley said, adding that the cause of the crash has not been determined. The accident remained under investigation on Sunday.

Durham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and assisted with traffic.
