BELFAST — The author or this obituary is the humble, loving mother and Mimi, herself, Anna May Small Shardlow.
Anna (May) Small Shardlow passed away on July 21 at Tall Pines Living Center.
She was born in Livermore Falls on July 16, 1931, the only daughter of William A. Small and Leona Bean Small McCrillis. At the age of 9, after the death of her father, she went to live in Farmington with her grandparents, Edgar W. and Anna S. Savage.
Anna (May) graduated from Farmington High School in 1949. She was a member of Wilson Grange No. 321 for more than 50 years and belonged to Excelsior Pomona No. 5, Maine State Grange and National Grange for more than 65 years. She was a former member of Colonial Daughters Chapter D.A.R. and the Mosher Hill Extension Group.
She is survived by her sons, William A. and his wife, Tennie, of Yarmouth and Wilbur A. and his wife, Naomi, of West Gardiner; daughters, Christine A. O’Roak and her husband, J. Charles O’Roak, of Searsport, Rachel B. Heath and her husband, David A. Heath, of Chesterville and Mary I. Hyland and her husband, Randall T. Hyland of Searsmont; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Small of Windham; Harold Small of Phillips and Gerald McCrillis Jr. of Sabattus; and one sister,“Trudy” Crowley of Wilton.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Wallace Small and Carroll Small.
