1931 – 2014

LEWISTON — Maxine Mina Morrissette Martin, 83, passed away Friday, July 25, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

Maxine M. Martin was born May 4, 1931, in Sheffield, Vt., the daughter of Ella Cannon Lyons. She was raised lovingly by her aunt Bessy “Peppy” and uncle Leroy “Red” Burgess. Maxine was united in marriage to Laurier Morrissette on Valentine’s Day in Auburn. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1973.

She was a loving mother, devote Catholic, housewife and an employee of Clark’s Shoe for several years. Maxine loved being with her family and friends and was always singing and listening to her favorite music.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Willy Morrissette, Joseph (Diane) Morrissette, Archie (Tina) Morrissette, Gloria (Mike) Robinson, Jerry Morrissette, Larry Morrissette, and Pearl (Gene) Benner; son-in-law, Robert Hodgkins; three additional daughters (mothers of several grandchildren), Joanne Morrissette, Kathy Morrissette Kent and Tina Benson Morrissette; 24 loving grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha (Don) Target and Pearl (William) Balmer.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughters, Betsy Wood, Brenda Hill and Sonja Hodgkins; her son, Raymond Morrissette, her granddaughters, Melissa Jo Wood, Lynn Robinson and her sister, Louise (Paul) Rivard.

The family of Maxine would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion for the many years of care and love provided.
