CAPE ELIZABETH — More than 6,000 runners are expected to take part in the annual TD Beach to Beacon 10K road race.

Thousands of spectators are also expected to line the coastal route in Cape Elizabeth on Saturday.
The field includes American runners Meb Keflezighi and Shalane Flanagan. Keflezighi in April became the first American male to win the Boston Marathon since 1983. Flanagan, meanwhile, finished seventh in Boston while recording the fastest time ever by an American woman in the race.
2013 Beach to Beacon champions Micah Kogo and Joyce Chepkirui — both from Kenya, are also back for this year’s race.
Maine’s largest road race was founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson, a Maine native who twice won the Boston Marathon and also won the inaugural women’s marathon at the 1984 Olympics.
