Recently, we attended the flag raising at the Seeds of Peace in Otisfield — a space where young people from Israel and surrounding countries, as well as from Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, gather to seek out the humanity in one another.
I have been to a dozen Seeds of Peace flag raisings. Never have I seen such sad, stressed faces as I saw this year under the horrible conditions presently playing out in the Holy Land.
These young people are so brave, so hopeful. They dream of peace while the power brokers in their societies launch rockets, lob shells and drop bombs.
May those seeds grow into tomorrow’s leaders. May their dreams become tomorrow’s reality.
Henry and Shirley Hamilton, Otisfield
