I support the re-election of John Cleveland as state senator from District 20 (Auburn, Poland, New Gloucester, Minot and Mechanic Falls).

Previously, he served terms as a successful Auburn City Councilor and then as an enterprising mayor of Auburn. During Sen. Cleveland’s tenure in Auburn government, he was known for his accomplishments without regard to partisan politics or ideology.

As state senator, his greatest accomplishment once again involved his marshaling of a non-partisan coalition to pass by unanimous Senate vote the Maine Omnibus Energy Bill which addressed, among other things, the cost of electricity and of natural gas and doubled funding for Efficiency Maine.

Sen. Cleveland knows that money saved by energy conservation benefits Maine families and is a great stimulus to the Maine economy.

I hope others join me in November by voting to return John Cleveland to the state Senate.
