Weary Club to meet Saturday

NORWAY — The members and friends of The Weary Club will meet for coffee from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.

What better way to begin a summer day – having coffee and conversation with friends. There will be plenty of coffee and fresh doughnuts from The Lake Store.

Blood drive at OHCHS Monday

PARIS — A community blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St.

The drive is hosted by Christ Episcopal Church and St. Catherine of Sienna Church.

There is always a need for donated blood, especially during the summer months.

All presenting donors will receive a coupon for $2.50 off Turkey Hill’s all natural ice cream.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Local author to read at story time

PARIS — Paris Public Library will host a special story time for all ages at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, featuring local author, Caryl McIntire Edwards.

Edwards will read her new children’s book, “Rosebud, a Princess-Finally!” The book was published in 2014 by AuthorHouse and illustrated by Stephen Adams.

Rosebud is a true story about an abandoned beagle who encountered many frightening and hurtful hardships in the wild. Come and listen to the story to find out what Rosebud endured as an abandoned dog and to find out what became of Rosebud.

After the story, there will be an opportunity to talk with the author and ask questions about her book and the real Rosebud.

Copies will also be available for sale.

NORWAY/FRYEBURG — SeniorsPlus, the Area Agency on Aging, will be at the Norway Town Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, and at Fryeburg Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.

Representatives will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns.

Community cookout in Otisfield

OTISFIELD — A free community cookout will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Community Hall, Route 121. Sittings are at 5 and 6 p.m. Donations are accepted.

Menu is chicken, hamburg, hot dogs, salads, watermelon, punch, coffee, tea and water.

The event is put on by Otisfield Social Outreach committee in partnership with the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church and sponsored by Town of Otisfield.
