St. Michael’s, Trinity plan Eucharist

LEWISTON — St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Auburn will celebrate The Holy Eucharist with Trinity Episcopal Church on Bates Street in Lewiston at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17.

There will not be a 9 a.m. service at St. Michael’s on that day. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Pig roast, auction in Pownal

POWNAL — A pig roast dinner will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with an auction to follow at 7, on Saturday, Aug. 23, at North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road.

Price for dinner is $10 for adults 13 years and up; $5 for ages 5-12; and no charge for children under 4 years.

Societies to host officers, authors

MINOT — Minot and Hebron Historical Societies will host retired law enforcement officers and authors John Ford Sr. and Mark Nickerson at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 26, at the West Minot Grange Hall in West Minot village.

This will be preceded by a potluck dinner at 6. The public is invited.

Cathance River whitewater

TOPSHAM — A free CREA Community Nature Program will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road.

Published writer and adventurer Ron Chase will take the audience with him (gulp) paddling down the class IV rapids of the Cathance River during spring high water. With videos and photos, attendees will vicariously experience the thrills of this local adventure.
